Call for submissions

This year’s exhibition takes place between

Saturday 30 October – Friday 31 December 2010

Now in its sixth year, “Winter Warmth” has built up a reputation for showcasing original, high quality art and design work from a wealth of artists, designers and craft makers in Scotland and the UK.

This year, the exhibition will take place in The Park Gallery’s new location on the ground floor of Callendar House.

This year’s exhibition will focus on Sustainability. We intend to highlight quality contemporary design which demonstrates innovative use of sustainably produced materials, or has been created using techniques which minimise environmental impact. We welcome applications from artists working in all areas of applied arts and crafts.

Closing date for submissions is Friday 13 August 2010

Selection is by a panel who will view the images together in a power point presentation.

If you would like to be considered for this year’s exhibition, preferably reply by email to the park gallery (artsandcrafts@falkirk.gov.uk), including your name, address, and telephone number; a description of your work in around 100 words; and 2 jpeg images of your work. Alternatively post the same information on a CD (suitable to open on a PC) to the Park Gallery.

All applications will be acknowledged and applicants will be informed of their results in early August. Selected artists would be required to deliver work for exhibition in the week 11 to 15 Oct.

Title Looking for glass bits
Category Looking for
Main Details Katie Lake is an artistic metalworker who often combines small pieces of glass into her work to add colour and vibrancy.

I wondered whether anyone could help as I am currently having problems getting hold of the glass. I have in the past found great pieces and then the product seems to be discontinued or thye stop doing the best colours or change the size of the piece to a smaller version!

The bits I can get seem very expensive for what they are and are limited in thier colours.

The shapes I am particularly looking for are:

- large globs, cathederal nuggets, discs or pebbles approx. 35 - 45mm diameter

- ice cubes approx. 30mm x 30mm x 20-25+mm tall

- squares approx. 40- 50mm x 40-50mm x 5-10mm tall

Any leads or contacts most gratefully received.
