Effie Burns

Since establishing my studio in 1999 my practice has been concerned with glass and its ability to transform space. As an artist I work across a broad range of projects both sculptural and in the public realm. My role varies enormously depending on the piece of work. In some cases I am a maker, curator, consultant or collaborator.

Details about work or recent projects

I have been working with glass for over eighteen years now. It has taken me on many different journeys. I have exhibited my sculptural work internationally including shows with Contemporary Applied Arts in London and the Crafts Council in Tokyo. I am currently developing a new series of cast and polished glass sculptural pieces. 'Forest I' was selected to be part of the 'Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2014'. In 2012 a QEST scholarship allowed me to study glass engraving with Katharine Coleman in Germany.
