It was the contemplation of old stained glass – masterpieces of craftsmanship and spiritual beauty – that stimulated my curiosity and desires to the point of abandoning my old life and embracing a new career. However, it is the contemporary approach to the craft, with the aid of modern technology, methods and processes, that breathes life into new exciting opportunities
Katrina Beattie graduated from University for Creative Arts in Farnham in 1995. She currently runs a studio in Somerset specializing in Blown and Kiln Formed Glass. I graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (in glass & fine art, and glass architecture) in the summer of 2003 and work from my studio in Deptford, South East London. My work is sculptural (kiln cast, blown or slumped) and inspired by the forms of sea anemones. I exhibit and photograph my pieces in unusual settings (such as on beaches).
