London-based glass artist Yorgos Papadopoulos’ unique treatment of glass is innovative and highly experimental. Papadopoulos’ successful commissions range from medium size to large scale works for venues such as corporate headquarters, hotel lobbies, private residences, luxury cruise liners and garden landscapes. Pioneer of a technique he developed at the Royal College of Art, Papadopoulos breaks, colours and textures sheets of industrial glass and then re-laminates them to make architectural scale artworks which appear fragile but are extremely durable.

I have been working with glass for seven years, concentrating on garden sculptures. My training has been at Stanton Guildhouse, Glostershire. I am now retired and have set up my own studio with kiln in Somerset. Other intrests are printing ,and I would like to combine the two activities in my future works.
The need to make things has always been with me, like a shadow, always present but not always apparent. I now use glass in its many different forms as the main material to express my personal creative vision; the resultant pieces exist somewhere along a fluid boundary between fine art and craft.
