I completed a BA (Hons) Fine Art in 2010 and am a perpetual student of archaeology. My interdisciplinary work explores the deep past of humanity and treasures unearthed from the journey into the darkness. Dartmoor also inspires my work with its rugged elemental intensity, semi-wild animals and abundant prehistoric monuments.

I play with various warm glass techniques, layering the glass with powders, paints and enamels and often incorporating leaves and printed or stencilled designs. Layers of glass replicate the layers and strata of the land – hills, skies, beaches, rivers and seas.

Clash&Clash

Amy Whittingham manipulates materials to create simply stunning cast glass; sculpted with positive and negative spaces, harnessing light.
Glass embodies many qualities it can be strong or fragile, solid or hollow, transparent or opaque. Amy’s egg series compliments these contradictions, accomplishing a remarkable sense of balance.

I am a glass artist based in Halifax, West Yorkshire and work with stained glass, fused glass and mosaics. I run courses from my workshop in Halifax to introduce you to the techniques required to produce your own work. My courses are technical, hands-on, practical workshops with the aim of inspiring you to be excited and creative with the medium of glass. I also produce my own work with a preference for fused glass. I work with mainly float glass and use texture and frits to bring the glass alive.

Ruby Comet, cross pollinated - hotshop and kiln

Always enjoyed being creative, I decided on retirement to do something really exciting. Enrolled to a 1 year Glass Technique Diploma course 2010 and found I loved it, now I am happy working in my studio.
The transparency of the glass creating surprising effects with natural lights inspires me. The glass magnifies or distorts images and puts them into a dreamlike state. The childlike effect glass has on me is infectious and boundaries are always stretched by me and glass artists that makes the whole industry fascinating. I love to cross pollinate between kilnformed glass and the hotshop.
