CGS will have two events at the conference that you can take an active part in, as well as enjoying the rest of the conference

Friday 16th 15.50 -16.50
Time to Share – 15 CGS members, selected for their diverse practice, will talk about a piece of their own work, which they have brought to the conference, how it was made and what it means to them. An opportunity to step out of the isolation of studio work and discuss the development of technique and concept amongst a group of friendly peers.

Sunday 18th Sept 14.30 – 15.30
Matters of Mastery – The members of CGS range from those just starting out with glass to individuals whose works is internationally renowned for quality. Join us for an opportunity to question a number of members from the latter group about their techniques, approaches and career development

New Graduate Review

Following on from the successful annual student glass prize awarded at ‘New Designers’, C.G.S. has decided to expand the opportunity for all British glass graduates. So this year we will replace the New Designers Glass Award with a more inclusive publication, “C.G.S. New Graduate Review”. This will be a 16 page publication, which will be circulated extensively as well as via Neues Glas - New Glass: Art & Architecture, crafts&design and CRAFTS social media and will give us an opportunity to showcase more of the emerging talent form British Graduates. There will still be prizes for the Winner and two Runners-up.

All British students graduating from an accredited course in 2016 will be eligible to enter, by submission of application form and digital images. There will be one Winner and two Runners-up, with several Commendations, all will appear in the C.G.S. - Graduate Review.

Marvin Lipofsky, one of the great pioneers of the international studio glass movement, has died. A controversial and often cantankerous figure, he was totally dedicated to promoting glass as a sculptural medium and to recording and documenting its development over the past 50 years.
