CONTEMPORARY GLASS ENGRAVING COURSE - Scholarship Scheme
West Dean College near Chichester hosts short intensive courses in many applied arts and have invited me to run one in contemporary glass engraving from 10-13 February 2014.
The details of the college can be found at www.westdean.org.uk and the course details at https://www.westdean.org.uk/resources/longdetails/3D4377.pdf . The college is well equipped and located in Edward James' country house in beautiful gardens and parkland - see www.westdean.org.uk .
The College offers a bursary scheme for free places and accommodation for up to three students in full time education and I wondered if any of your students would like to participate? Everything, except for the glass and cost of travel, is paid for - 100% of the accommodation, food and the course fees, use of tools etc. They would really only have to find a way of getting there (train and bus or national express and bus). Application form attached.
The College provides drills and some burs and a good sandblaster; students should bring their own glass or be prepared to buy small pieces at cost. West Dean do not however have flat bed grinders or polishing equipment, nor cutting lathes. Students can work from early to late into the evening. It is a very short course, aimed at offering ideas and possibilities rather than completed works of art - suited to those who want to use engraving as an adjunct to their current work as well as those who are considering pursuing engraving on glass more specifically.
Any further questions should be sent to me at email@example.com . The application form should be sent to Alison Baxter, Head of Short Courses, The Edward James Foundation, West Dean College, near Chichester, West Sussex, PO18 0QZ, tel: 01243 811301. Alison Baxter's email address is: Alison.Baxter@westdean.org.uk .
