Douglas Hogg
Born Edinburgh 1948. Studied stained glass, drawing and painting at the Edinburgh College of Art. Post-graduate study, various awards and bursaries. Head of stained/architectural glass course at ECA 1979-2000. Member of Council, British Society of Master Glass Painters, London. External examiner at Swansea, University of Wales 2002-2005.
My work investigates image and spatial effect, implementing and developing the use of colour, scale and form relevant to the specific nature or requirements demanded by particular spaces. Materials used include various flat and processed glasses, occasionally in combination with non-glass elements. Techniques utilised spread across use of paint, stain, enamel and gilding, screen print, airbrush, cold process and heat forming.
