Water in Nature has been my biggest inspiration as is it restful and calming and I have spent a lot of time near the Arabian Sea during my holidays, which has played a huge influence in my work.
My aim is to produce work that captures and communicates a sense of stillness, of calm and quiet in a busy and hectic world. I have chosen glass to explore the transparency of water as they both share the same qualities.
I am fascinated by the calm movement of the waves and the beautiful shades of colours that are reflected in the sea. My forms are developed from a horizon line, a curve that I observe during my holidays.
I have used the techniques of kiln casting and cold working and have applied copper carbonate and Mazarin blue cobalt body stain for the colours to create this sculptural piece of work.
