Cheryl Wilson-Smith has lived all her life in Canada’s North, working and raising her family in Red Lake. Beginning as a painter and ceramic artist, she works in glass art exploring the passage of time and her sense of place in the vast world around us. Drawing from her isolated life, residencies around the world and travels she has created a unique image. By manipulating the physical characteristics of powdered glass, she is able to achieve forms that resemble familiar land formations.
She began exhibiting in 2007, receiving national and international attention. Her work has been in numerous exhibitions and a recent solo installation at galleries throughout North America and in the U.K.
Like most Canadians she deals with landscape, but landscapes remembered across generations, those affecting us and those we impact. Cheryl is interested in remembrances that shape an individual’s art and design ideas. Her sculptures serve as receptacles for memory and time while exploring the tensions presented as we try to walk responsibly in this world and contemplate the extent to which we all alter the landscape, for better and worse.

Balance explores the relationship between humans to coyotes. Title:Crowned
There is a crown for each of us.
Because we are important.
We enjoy the joys and bear the sorrows of life.
Jesus bore his sufferings and wore a crown of thorns.
Children wear flowers in their hair and celebrate.
Each of us has something to carry a loving care, an incurable illness, ... but you draw on a child and the love of life.
The flowers were made in pate de verre using a flower from the garden as the only mold.
Then the pate de verre flowers were melted into the mold of the figure along with it.
Now it is a fully molded figure.

Title:Veerkracht
Born in 1967
Graduated in 2022 in glass
This work is about the healing power of telling your story. Whether it is in art or in words, telling your story sets you free. When we keep things to ourself as a secret, we remain caged and loose the connection with ourself. The reason for this work is sexual abuse in my childhood at a bird rescue centre where I was working as a volunteer. I kept this a secret for so many years. In my case it’s over 40 years ago but sexual abuse still happens every day. Victims often blame themselves. That’s why we need to be open about it. With my work I want to open a dialogue to invite people to tell their story.
My installation consists of a cage that is made with 3000 pâte de verre feathers and 10 different pâte de verre panels on which I screen printed my life story with glass powder. Writing my story down was a healing process. The feathers represent hope, faith and a new beginning.
* Veerkracht is a Dutch word which means resilience in English. And consists of 2 words namely veer which means feather and kracht means strength.

The sculpture is shown on a piece of mirrored glass inviting the viewer to reflect on the ongoing practice of state violence creating civilian casualties.

This piece was made to symbolise the seasons and context wherein life, and my life specifically, finds itself. Hope and tranquillity speckled with darkness and loneliness, yet life continues through its cycles and seasons with us getting older. The swallows migrating through life symbolizes experiences and time.
The background on this piece was kiln fired on 5mm float glass using the pouring method with UCG glass Paints. The swallows were cut out from Bullseye and Spektrum glass and then attached with UV glue.
With this piece I won the glass section in the Centurion art Association’s - Artist of the Year 2022.

Size: 16cm x 12cm
Cast Soda lime glass, dichroic glass, cold worked, polished
Contemporary Art Nodules are a design concept including the top 10 characteristics of glass that I have taken notice from other people and myself over ten years of exhibiting glass art. The nodules have all ten attributes in one object. Since glass as a material is geological they also represent the earth from which thy came in some way. Including transparency, small enough windows to create curiosity, a reward inside to see and orb-like to name a few.
jeremysinkus@yahoo.com
In 2016 I started making cast glass. This allowed me to apply techniques to make more authentic mineral designs. This method would give me the ability to sculpt, involve more precision and increase the scale of my designs. The use of familiar tools and techniques for working stone from my gem cutting years connects me even more to glass sculpting. These tools allow me to venture into the deep process and experience of what made the mineral world so appealing to me creatively. Cast glass has taught me patience and channels a version of a 100,000,000 year geological process. This body of work gives me human participation in an form that would otherwise only be a geological event. My geological designs have reconnected me to the gem and mineral world. There, though realistic, they are seen as art. In the art world they are seen as contemporary.

Title:Shadow Birth
Date: 2018
Size: 2500mm x 1500mm x 3000mm
I view my practical work as a physical manifestation of the manner in which one
treats the shadow entity. My main choice of medium is blown glass. The glass
blowing process is part of the concept.
As I expel the breath from my lungs through the pipe into the molten glass it
becomes swollen around itself, like a swollen sphere. The more one blows air into
the sphere of molten glass, the more pressurised the fragile surface becomes. The
forever changing liquid state of molten glass has a memory and is fragile as well as
dangerous and needs to be handled with caution and nurtured. Within my glass
forms, I aim to capture how one is drawn to the light reflected off the glass and
towards the beauty of the memory of the material.

Title:Creation
Handmade three-layer jar with blue, white and transparent layers which I engraved via Cameo method by hand (only via drill, diamond burrs).
The philosophy: A few pictures of nature are carved on the lower part of this glass jar, and the upper part represents a period of human modeling and symbolic understanding of nature in several ancient mathematical languages and based on the pictures found in scientific historical sources (Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, Arabic, Phoenician, etc.) from ancient sciences to modern sciences. A kind of history of the human symbolic understanding of the universe and finally ending with equations related to quantum consciousness and symbols of revelation. I tried to engrave some influential symbols in the history of science, and at the same time, the originality of languages, for example, the existence of non-decimal bases in ancient sciences, has been observed in engraving. Also, an image of two bunches of grapes and three parallel rings has been carved on the upper ring of the jar.

Title:Under Pressure
Tempered glass shards, kilnformed with handmade mold
Size: 140 cm x 96 cm x 7.5 cm
Owning a glass studio is exhilarating, exhausting and expensive. I'm under constant pressure to produce, market, teach, learn, and create. However, the wisdom that comes from my previous career in journalism and managing international projects does translate to art, and I've learned to flex under the weight without cracking or crumbling.
I often work with ambiguous figures, allowing the viewer to interpret the piece within their own life stories. My intention here is to viscerally express the pain of all types of external stress and the posture required to resist it.
I used sharp diagonal lines to characterize those external pressures, surrounding a void that outlines my own silhouette. Though crouched and flinching, the figure is resistant with its curving lines of flexibility. It is a reminder that an arch is stronger from leaning inward, balanced by its own weight.
Stress can feel as though a million pieces of glass are pushing into you, so I used 100 pounds of tempered glass shards to make this jagged form. I also chose to tack fuse, rather than fully cast, the glass, to maintain its transparency and texture. I did minimal coldworking, removing only small chunks that interfered with the lines of the piece.
The sculpture is nearly life-sized, and the void invites viewers to frame themselves within it. The base is wood, covered with marble rocks and chips, which creates the environment of rugged obstacles over which we tread when pressure pushes down.

Title:Compartmentalization / Stacked in Wood
Stig Persson works with a stricly abstract constructivist and minimalist expression in his glass works, which occasionally contains reminiscences of identifiable surroundings. The experience af the individual work rests on repetition, i.e. repeated shapes of circles, squares, rectangles, or cylinders. Whether the shapes are made flat or plastically cast, they are always defined within a strictly geometric framework af constellations of these basic shapes, often placed inside one another.
In the series, Stacked, containing cylinders in various sizes made of solid glass are placed in mea wooden frame. The number, colour and size of the cylinders vary, effectively creating a sense of movement from block to block. A sence of tension builds up on the assumption that the removal of one cylinder would cause the rest to roll on, at once making control highly uncontrollable. In this way, the expectation of movements is captured in an otherwise utterly static construction, and these works come close to a kind of kinetic art.
The attached work, Compartmentalization, consists of cast glass cut ground, partly epoxy-coated, rack from beeswax-coated oak tree.

Title:Retablo de Imágenes y Memorias
Retablo de Imágenes y Memorias is a multimedia installation composed of works in glass, wood and embroidered screen printing on plexiglass. These objects are presented in and around appropriated forms of the retablo, one of the most powerful tools of colonization, to tell the contemporary immigrant story in visual form. Originally experienced as multimedia altar screens, retablos were placed on the back walls of Catholic churches behind the altar table. They are often composed of paintings and sculptures of biblical figures. During colonization, the church introduced the retablo in the Americas understanding that the visual characteristics of the altars were an excellent tool to aid in the visual communication and indoctrination of native peoples to Catholicism. This colonization destabilized the natives’ world and set the stage for political and economic problems that plague their homelands in the twenty-first century. With time, the retablo was appropriated by the natives throughout Latin America to tell their cultural stories and became a symbol of transcendent, native resistance. The altar wall is faced by an installation of children’s shoes cast in glass. The shoes signify multiple generations of immigrants’ children who are the keepers of their ancestors' memories of courage, sacrifice, loss, hope, and the transcendent dream to live harmonious, fruitful, dignified lives. Facing the retablo, the shoes bear witness to a grid of stylized niches. Referencing the lockers in The Pima County Office of Medical Examiner storage facility in Tucson, AZ, each niche holds everyday objects, cast in glass that are facsimiles of items found with the remains of immigrants who have passed away in the Sonoran desert. By presenting these common objects I offer the viewer an opportunity to find similarities between themselves and the immigrants.

Installation. Blown glass, net. The length of glass pieces from 40cm x 80cm, width ~20cm
This installation was inspired by the Covid period. Condition of
“blurred“ in which the vagueness of the future reflects the inner
„unfocused“ state of being, the feeling of separation, loneliness. At
the same time, this is also transition - a passage from one time period
to another. In these bleak, moody times, a certain field of vision may
catch the beginnings of new ways for incompatible phenomena to coexist;
a germ of something yet unpredictable-new and unpredictable-fearsome.

Shaped by fire project explores cultural synthesis and movement in time, the simultaneity of the past and the future. The artist revives the Finnish wood imprint technique from the 1960s and develops it further, experimenting with wood and glassblowing processes to master the synergy of elements, achieving an enhanced natural metamorphosis of shapes. Material-led creative serendipity results in objects seemingly grown from the earth rather than made by hand.

10”x10”x7”
It happened in 1980, while I was a student at Tulane. Most of my time was spent at the Newcomb Art building. I was upstairs when I noticed a trap door in the ceiling. It looked pretty inviting, so I stacked together some boxes and clambered up.
The attic was a huge space, comprising the entire interior of the building. There were large windows at both ends, letting in light. The whole place was pretty empty, except for the stack of ten or twelve large stained glass windows collecting dust at one end. Upon closer inspection, I realized I they were important: given their style and age, I thought they might have been Tiffany, or even La Farge! The leaf work was particularly recognizable. Even in their neglected state, they were beautiful. I felt like an archeologist discovering hidden treasure! I admired them carefully and then let them be.
It turns out they were indeed Tiffany and remained in the attic for another fifteen years. The University had them refurbished and built a museum for them and Newcomb pottery. They might have been up there since 1918.
So I think of them from time to time. I am currently focusing on creating transparent color combinations with my new pieces, a technique Tiffany used. Perhaps someday they'll end up forgotten in a dusty attic as well.

Title:Her Master's Voice
'Her Master's Voice' collection contains glass designs that are created to question the craft. Searching for a balance between the skills of a master glassblower and their apprentice. The collection is made up of objects that invite viewers to examine craft and the meaning of mastership. Providing a stage to let questions arise; do you see the qualities of the master and how do we value the imperfections from the learning hand of a young craftsman? What does it mean to be a master? Is the quality of education good enough to become a master?
The vase is designed to emphasise the fine balance in skills, to be a centrepiece in a space - with or without a clear function.

Glass, Steel, Vitreous Enamel
Metallum et Speculum explores porcelain enamel production in post-industrial revolution America. Originating from the decorative arts & crafts production of glass on fine metals such as copper, silver, and gold for the enjoyment of the aristocracy, porcelain enamel on carbon steel became the façade of an industrial era, cladding our appliances, our public signage both commercial and authoritarian, coating the edifices of transportation, and was considered the next evolution in architectural facing. German immigrants to the United States created enormous companies in the early 20th century researching, developing, batching, and supplying millions of tons of this glass coating. Like many American industries in the late 20th century, the porcelain enamel industry in the United States fell rapidly into decline. Its dramatic fall is a mixture of the cost analytics of newer cheaper alternatives, consumer tastes, and other general economic forces. Metallum, et Speculum is an installation that adapts this once ubiquitous industrial process back into the arts & crafts studio from where it was originally derived. It is a formal and anthropological assessment of these oscillating cultural applications and an archeological study of the material’s chemical processing, production, and distribution.

Materials and technique: Blown glass, cut, polished, engraved
In my research of forms and textures I turn to the fundamentals of Biology. In an attempt to demonstrate the material from within, I take my inspiration in an almost literal dissection of myself and the outside world. Visual researches in the field of Biology of the processes under the microscope, organic micro-organism, cell-division and blood vessels structure – all those natural processes are in a constant movement. In stopping and freezing these movements in a glass forms - I feel as if I murder the moment of mobility but simultaneously, I make an imprint of time that stays invincible. One of the most exclusive characteristics of glass is its inaptitude to decomposition – supports a disposition to halt biological processes and eternalize them, thus repressing death drive.
The texture created on the surface of the objects transforms ‘cold,’ smooth and shiny, - natural qualities of glass, into ´warm´, pleasant and curious to touch.
The purpose here is to invite the spectator and tempt one want to touch it that doesn’t go without saying. For me, that very paradox of seducing the spectator into touching Glass, the material that normally is not tactile-friendly – is the climax of the spectatorship experience. It’s an acceptance and recognition (registering) of the biological form on a genetic-visual-unconscious plain.
Clean and transparent cut reveals and highlights textual and shape organics of glass mass giving birth to a new visual experience. The boundary between the glass and its surroundings disappears and we begin to see that material from within such as the wide cuts divide not the glass but its inner space.

Title:“Seven skins”
Size of a half onion: 7 x 24 x 25 cm
Several years ago, I became intrigued by the ages-old, worldwide power of the number Seven. In that context, I made pieces dealing with the biblical story of the 7-tiered Tower of Babel and Babylonian communication confusion; psychologist Abraham Maslow’s 7-leveled Hierarchy of Needs, addressing humans’ physical, psychological, and spiritual needs; and Buddhism’s 7 chakras, or energy centers, each associated with a certain color.
With ties to my own childhood, “Seven skins” has its roots in an old German children’s riddle: “Hat Sieben Häute, beisst alle Leute? What has seven skins and bites all people?”
Of course, the answer is “an onion,” with its many layers and its tear-inducing chemical reactions when cut. As a glass artist, I found the multilayered beauty and mystery of this seemingly simple everyday object irresistible.

Title:Video
A glass artist currently exploring colour, light, vision, and perception, through the lens of the postdigital. Please see attached a still frame of one of my glass renderings, as well as the animation including the same work, as my submission to "Expanding Boundaries".
The video work is R(f(Echoes Of Light, Rawlinson)), (2021), please see below a short description of the work.
This ongoing body of work, a series titled "An Analytical Homage to Vision" is a form of digital fanart, expressing a profound appreciation for all colourful glass, and the subsequent experience of viewing it.
The experience of colour vision is mathematically defined via the manipulation of data which measures the colour of a published glass artwork. This colour experience, different for each work, is transformed by complex mathematical processes into curved lines, retaining the information within the data. These lines are built into forms, rendered as hollow clear glass artefacts, and illuminated with the colours of their own data.
By transforming the experience of colour vision into a colourless form, a new edition of the otherwise subjective experience is afforded to the viewer, presenting the potential of an objective, posthuman, artificial replica of the sensation of colour.
R(f(Echoes Of Light, Rawlinson)) is a cyclic, 3-axis rotational translation of the still form f(Echoes Of Light, Rawlinson).

The size is 18 x 39 x 17 cm.
This object is freeblown and shaped with a black inside layer. The outer shape I refined with coldworking, grinding, polishing and scratching the surface with grinding stones.
It is one more example of a loose series of objects, 3d sketches maybe, where I explore the possibilties with shapes, surfaces and strong contrasts between rough and polished, transparent and deep black. "Tetraeder" also has the shape as
subject, this mathematical shape is a very minimal one, in statics a very stable one.

On 27/11/2021, a news item was published across several newspapers and newscasts: 34 immigrants drowned on their way to freedom. Their attempt to reach Britain from the north of France ended with the capsizing of their boat in the English Channel and represented the worst immigration disaster in recent years. Most of us hear, but do not stop for a moment to think, to feel sorrow, to be horrified… Most of us press on a virtual ‘delete’ button and continue as though nothing has happened. What is the measure of man? The Greek philosopher Protagoras wrote, “Man is the measure of all things”. Martin Luther King wrote, “The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him no good. The measure of a man is what he does with power. If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals”. This boat flotilla was created in memory of the immigrants who are trying to change their lives for the better and survive for a better future. The flotilla will include 34 boats, memorializing and honoring all those who drowned in that dilapidated boat in the English Channel, as well as all those who have lost their lives attempting to seek asylum. Then “What is the Measure of Man?” body of work will be displayed on a dark broken mirror. Execution of the project began in December 2021 and continued until July 2022. The entire body of work is made of Bullseye glass, using the fusing technique. The thinness of the boats symbolizes the fragility of life. The colors I chose are white, red, and black, with a hint of blue. White or transparent glass symbolizes the transparency of the people, while red and black symbolize life and death, blood and mourning. The hint of blue represents the sea. Twisted ropes of red will also be attached as an ambiguous symbol of life and death.

I’m a South African glass artist who has been working in the field of glass for the last 23 years.
The hand blown glass Seeds floats on a toughened glass and steel line on the wall. The glass has been cut and polished to reveal the hidden beauty within. Fynbos is indigenous plant that grows in the Cape province area in South Africa. Fynbos plants, such as proteas, need fire to be able to release seeds and reproduce. My work symbolises these seeds that on the surface looks dead, but inside there are many hidden possibilities. As in ones life you can experience many dark moments in life, but sometimes these experiences can become beautiful over time.

Title:Sky Column: Shaking the Shadow
762cm x 244cm x 244cm (25' x 8' x 8')
2022
Sky Column: Shaking the Shadow is a site-specific installation at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth Texas. The work was made outside and onsite with a small portable furnace over a 10-week period during the extreme summer heat of 2022. 8936 strands of glass individually hung, become documentation of 330,150 Steps - 193,075 feet - 42 miles. Each strand is documentation - a time lapse of a distanced walked.
The work explores labor, the body, and the relationship between the exterior natural world and our fabricated interior worlds. The thin threads of glass draw in the light and colors of the environment from the outside, and change throughout the cycle of day, and they become a monumental fragile column of sky.
The work was commissioned as a contemporary intervention to the museum’s acclaimed Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass exhibition, which considers the way in which artists and craftspeople of Venice influenced American painters in the 19th and 20th centuries. The darkness of Sargent’s paintings of glassmakers make the labor and work nearly invisible in dreariness and darkness, while Robert Blum’s paintings show the lace makers of Venice in brightly lit, sun-filled rooms. Sky Column: Shaking the Shadow blurs the hierarchy of labor - menial versus skilled - through relationship of parts to a whole and the meaningfulness of a collective gesture through the accumulation of parts.

Title:How We Live Like Water
The figure presented in How We Live Like Water has been broken and re-assembled - similar to Kintsugi -the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold. Behind the face(the imagery made from glass powder in the sgraffito technique), plays a video loop of flowing white water. The title alludes to a famous Bruce Lee quote, a paraphrase of Taoist teachings. Being like water means you are able to adapt to whatever is thrown at you. While on the surface the water seemed weak, in reality it isn’t. If you gave it enough time, it could cut through even the hardest of surfaces.

Title:Messenger of the night
It aims to express the need to seek deeper connection in things unseen and untouched beyond the known. This is delivered through hidden metaphors with the inclusion of nature.
The body of work aims to address the deepness of the soul and development of mind, touching the highest lever of consciousness through the colour, and depth and sometimes the clarity and illumination of the glassworks.

I enjoy kayaking and boating of any kind and am fortunate to live in the Fingerlakes area of upstate New York. In Hammondsport, New York by beautiful Keuka Lake is the Fingerlakes Boating Museum where I took a boat building class. While mostly learning how much I didn’t know about boat building it did give me insight as to the aesthetic of boat structure, form and shape. I like to have my art connected to my life. When not on the lake in a boat I’m often in the glass studio where I began working with the boat form as a metaphor for containment of relationships. The atmosphere surrounding the inner spherical cores was created by careful and deliberate glass material selection. Billet or block as well as various particle sizes of glass frits were carefully placed in the plaster/silica mold so that when melted a record of the movement of materials was visually recorded. This process creates an abstract language that can be interpreted metaphorically. I also enjoyed reveling in the subtle color variations that can be achieved by the density of the glass. Glass is such an amazing material to work with sculpturally as not only can one determine the exterior form but there is also the orchestration of the interior of that form and all the phenomena associated with glass.

Title:This work is part of « In Memoriam - A new life to inherited objects »
Detail of an installation called « Tree of Life » : pâte de verre parchments with family photos fused in.
Despite its robustness and its expected durability, glass, the new “sensitive film” in which the photographs are fused, is fragile and in this it resembles us. I wonder about the weight of heritage and it's transmission. What traces, what imprints to bequeath against oblivion? A necessity like a duty of memory, intimate and universal.

Title:Fantasia
In the art of glass, bubbles are often regarded as a kind of trouble, but I think bubbles are one of the important reasons why glass is full of unique charm. In the past time, I have tried to integrate my national language "Chinese characters" to express my artistic thoughts, and it also reflects my oriental background. In this work, it shows two lives, namely "?", reflecting my subtle thinking about the intimate relationship.

Textures found in nature, particularly in rocks, have always intrigued me. They are not only beautiful but they also trace the rock's origins. Title:GLIDE
Glide is a 40-pound optical glass sculpture evoking the illusion of movement inside a solid stationary environment. Beginning with precision water-jet cutting, three individual elements were combined for the casting process. Its reflections are created by weeks of precision polishing and final sandblasting touches. Glide’s suspended forms are internally reflected creating optical illusions of depth and movement from multiple perspectives.

Title:KURZE LEINE- SHORT LEASH
KURZE LEINE- SHORT LEASH is a part of an installation. It is about interpersonal relationships. A band that connects a partnership or relationship. Sometimes you go in step, sometimes you pull your partner with you and sometimes you are pulled, sometimes you just run after. It works even though it is unspoken.
The mirror within the glass reflects the different personalities, because everyone is an individual.

The little houses and roofs are carved from stew pears. After making a compositon with the carved components, I cast plaster over it. When the plaster was dry, I put it in the kiln to burn the stew pears en than after cleaning the mold, I put it in the kiln filled with glass. When the program in the kiln was finished, started the real work: removing the plaster without damaging the glass.

Title:The Ground Beneath
This triptych is part of a new body of work based on themes of landscape and memory. I use gathered photographic research, autobiographical references and memory to create imaginary worlds. By eschewing the often generic representation of a pastoral scene and investing my own experiences of the landscape I aim to create fantasy lands or types of utopian panoramas. Using specific, autobiographical moments and imbuing them with mystical and intangible interpretations I form dream worlds as a means of expressing universal emotions. While the work has elements of autobiography included, I resist making these overly explicit.

My main piece in the installation of an old bathhouse which was the theme of the show, together with 4 more Argentinean glass artists, Ana Laura Quintana, Rita Neumann, Teresa Apud and Christina Miglorini, November 2019, at Imagen Vitral gallery in Buenos Aires. The “sloth”is foamed up glass. Casting foam glass into figurative forms, more complex than a cup cake, needs a very intricate and different mould making, as during the casting process, the glass doesn’t flow into the form, but suddenly expands, wherever it is the moment it foams up.The lamp shades are in collaboration with the 3d, usually ceramic, printing artist Guillermo Silpituca. He designed the lower part of the shades and printed my glass paste.

Title:Geo Nodule
I work in cast glass and flame worked glass in a hydroelectric powered studio in the village of Shelburne Falls.

The ever-changing life of the land inspires me. I search for connection between the land and my internal landscape of memory. Technique: glass casting
Size: 30x30x9cm

The circular black mass prepared from a mixture of cement and porcelain was shaped with the help of a silicone mold, painted with cobalt oxide and fired at 1200 °C. The brutalist relief prepared with a plaster-quarz mixture was placed in the middle of the mold, then the turquoise crystal glasses were stacked in the mold and fired at 800 °C. The main purpose of this work is to transform a material used as a mold into a part of the work at the same time.

At
the same time, this is also transition - a passage from one time period
to another. In these bleak, moody times, a certain field of vision may
catch the beginnings of new ways for incompatible phenomena to coexist;
a germ of something yet unpredictable-new and unpredictable-fearsome.

Material-led creative serendipity results in objects seemingly grown from the earth rather than made by hand.

Title:Storm Brew

When I blow a sibling I know what kind of character this will have untill I pick them up from the annealer and put them in my studio, then they show their true face and I start finishing them with what ever media I think fits best to give it its expression. All the glass you see is made by me. The non-glass is recycled media.”
Size: each sibling measures about 42 to 45 cm high
Technique : glassblowing, patte de verre, murini, recycled mixed media

Title:Tetraeder
Made and finished in 2022.
The object can be arranged in different ways than on the photo.

Pressed glass, cast glass, hot sculpted glass, glass paint, powder coated metal brackets
Heirloom is a collection of wall pieces, displaying press leaf plates, cast strawberries, and sculpted vines in the orientation of a quilt. Though the plates are mass-produced by hand, the selection holds unique "defects" of unfilled stems and captured bubbles. The work focuses on connecting heirloom objects with generational experiences that are valued by families and communities.

heArthur experiments with graphic forms and colors to create striking three-dimensional objects from Bullseye sheetglass. He has developed his ‘3D-glassfusion’-technique, an innovation so he can melt glass together, instead of using glue. The results feel like a new ‘language’ in glass.
In his process he has stories, memories and images in mind. And so, he creates intuitively glass personalities. In this case a beautiful blue/purple character with a bit of an iridescent yellow/gold stripe.

Patiently assembled over days, thousands of 9x9 mm hand cut pieces of sheet glass create this intricate vessel. It evokes the patterns of ancient rings. Perhaps trees?
The pieces are fused at 1490F to form a flat disk and then slumped in a 1175F kiln three times in ceramic molds of increasing depth. As the hot, soft glass begins to drop the molds are adjusted by hand to ensure the proper shape. The matte finished opaque and transparent body is topped with a polished lip.

Title:Seeds of Hope

In-balance is made off two pieces of glass glued together, birdskulls on top. It stands on its own! I use glassfibre which i cast in my kiln.
