Visit The Other Glass/The Art of Recycled Glass exhibition

Stourbridge Glass Museum invites visitors to explore a new perspective on glass in a new international exhibition called The Other Glass/The Art of Recycled Glass. This international exhibition celebrates the creativity, resilience and unexpected beauty of reclaimed materials. The show takes place from 29 August 2026 to 27 February 2027.

Curated by Norwegian artist and author Tone Ørvik, the exhibition brings together 10 contemporary artists from seven countries who transform discarded, repurposed, geo-specific and second-life glass into extraordinary works of art. They create sculpture, stained glass, jewellery and functional objects.

Working with everything from discarded bottles, windows and television tubes to studio scraps, jam jars and locally sourced natural materials, the artists reveal the hidden potential within glass and challenge our understanding of value, sustainability and craftsmanship.

The featured artists are Irene Frolic (Canada), Frederik Rombach (Belgium), Hannah Gibson (UK), Jeanne-Sophie Aas (Norway), Gregory Alliss (UK), Debbie Dawson (Ireland), Ioana Stelea (Romania), Mafalda Maya (Portugal), Jeff Zimmer (UK) and Lulu Harrison (UK).

Non-traditional glass has been seen as discarded, dirty, difficult. The invited artists focus on the story inherent in the glass itself, its origins, its history, its second life, as much as the personal perspectives they bring to their work – giving evidence to the resilience and beauty of The Other Glass.
