Creativity should be one of growth and exploration. Windows of opportunity and challenge should be opened and the freshness of new ideas allowed to clear the mind.
Such has been my creative journey. In the 50's I helped in the studio of a leading French tapestry designer, Dom Robert de Chaunac. In later years I worked in a stained glass studio. For 43 years I was a member and subsequent Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers.
In 2019 I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and I am now exploring a modern take on the centuries old creative art of verre eglomise.
This for me, it involves the bonding of patterned fabric onto the back of plate glass, combined with engraved burnished gold leaf and some kiln fired paint work.
Humanity and its many variations of expression has always been my mind’s subject.
At 83 my creative journey is as exciting as ever.
