Member’s Spotlight

I fell in love with glass 35 years ago at Swansea School of Art, where I trained professionally in Architectural Stained Glass. I worked in Japan at the studio of Kuni Kajiwara for 18 months on leaving Swansea, then spend a year travelling, visiting and working in stained glass studios in Australia. On my return to the UK I trained to teach and I have just retired from 26 years as an Art, Design & Technology teacher in a secondary school, predominantly delivering textiles. My style and techniques are a collaboration of years of study and work experience and I am drawn to pattern, colour and and texture. In 2011 after spending a year gaining a qualification in Fused Glass Craft, I set up the DAISYGLASS Studio. I am in a constant cycle of experimentation and professional development, striving for fused glass and stained glass perfection. I design and make pieces using a variety of fused glass techniques which I sometimes combine with traditional stained glass techniques. I work to commission and supply a number of galleries. I also teach adult fused glass classes and exhibit my work at various events around the country.
