Janet Simpson

Jan Simpson, born in New Zealand in 1966 and raised in Hong Kong, has been working with glass since 1995. Trained in traditional stained glass in Australia, she completed a City and Guilds qualification in the UK in 1998 and is currently pursuing a BA in Glass and Ceramics at Farnham UCA. Jan blends traditional techniques with contemporary approaches, creating bespoke glass art that incorporates fusing, lampworking, kiln casting and painting. She runs workshops from her Bognor Regis studio and has exhibited at major UK craft fairs. Her commissioned work can be seen in both public and private collections worldwide. Her portfolio can be found at www.koruarts.co.uk.

I blend heritage stained glass methods with modern techniques to create individual pieces of glass art that can fit into both residential and architectural spaces. Often working to a brief that captures my clients’ unique stories or memories, I work to create both three dimensional and two dimensional imagery in glass using a wide variety of glass mediums. Designed to interact with natural light, changing throughout the day and casting beautiful reflections that transform the atmosphere of the space for which they were chosen.
