Member’s Spotlight

My creative practice focuses on exploring bodies and form, often in terms of health, disease or visualising illness. I am fascinated by how people imagine bodies internally, investigating what it means to picture yourself from the inside out, or to see yourself and your cells at a microscopic level. I work principally in three dimensions as I believe that engaging with physical objects facilitates radically different ideas and conversations to viewing images, whether analogue or digital. I frequently collaborate to create artwork inspired by others’ stories, with themes as wide-ranging as foetal biomechanics, deep ocean invertebrates, cancer, memory, and insomnia. My hypothesis is that alternative ways of understanding physical being can influence our day-to-day sense of embodiment and identity.
