Member’s Spotlight

Opal loves storytelling, creating beautiful artworks with an interesting or even dark back story, and using her quirky character to make people smile. Believing art is good for the soul and for mental well-being, Opal tries to bring art into as many people’s lives as possible.   Intrigued with comic art and graphic novels as a kid, Opal moved increasingly into graffiti and other storytelling and narrative art.   Through her background in traditional stained glass, Opal developed meticulous precision hand-cutting techniques, ensuring every piece of glass is used, and nothing wasted. Working with a small kiln and limited studio space encouraged Opal to engineer and develop new fusing techniques to construct individual components, creating intricate 3D, visually impactful kiln-formed glass.   Aspiring to be as cutting edge and different as possible, Opal has invented and developed many of her own unique techniques and delivers courses to glass artists and workshops to the community.
