Jane Vincent

Like many fellow glass artists my first experience of working with glass was making traditional leaded stained glass which I learned in evening classes 4 decades ago. I still like it although most of my work now is warm glass - kiln cast or fused. I like to paint and print on the glass and use found objects, wire and metals in my work. Exploring memories and emotions lies at the heart of my work both expressed in glass and also in my media and communications research in academia. I exhibit my glass art - mostly with Just Glass, CGS and in Bucks Open Studios and also publish my academic research; sometime one inspires the other and they are somewhat intertwined. For some years I have made a series of work in which I cast ordinary large nails in glass to which I affix objects, sometimes also made in glass but others are found objects. These are the Memory Block series of which Marconi and Glimpses of Northlands - my profile image - are examples.

Residencies in Summer 2018 at North Lands Creative, Lybster and in Canary Wharf London, and at Ruth Smith Gallery North Tawton Devon in 2023 continue to inspire my explorations in fusing metals and materials, mark making and memoires. In 2019 whilst exhibiting at the International Festival of Glass in Stourbridge I attended a Master Class with Jane Cook ‘ blowpipe chemistry’ & in 2022 pate de verre boxes with Satoshi Ishada . Recent exhibitions include Jan/Feb 2020 with Just Glass Recollection – Memories in Glass at the Espacio Gallery in Shoreditch London and during 2022 Earth Sky Sea at London Glass Blowing
