The Sidney Nolan Trust invites entries from contemporary artists working across all media in the UK or internationally.
Inspired by the legacy of pioneering Australian artist Sir Sidney Nolan CBE RA (1917-1992), we call for art that is engaged with emotion and human identity in relation to society and/or landscape, environment, plants and animals.
We seek submissions that demonstrate boldness, risk and conviction, and explore the unique quality of their medium across drawing, painting, print, sculpture, photography, digital, performance, installation, or mixed media.* We encourage cross-disciplinary approaches and collaborations.
The selection panel will shortlist up to 40 artists for inclusion in an exhibition in Summer 2026 at The Rodd, Sidney Nolan’s former 17th-century home in rural Herefordshire on the England-Wales border. Artists are asked to propose work for the Gallery, gardens or wider farmland estate.
In its inaugural year, a number of artists will receive prizes, including residencies and a solo exhibition.

Exploring both the creative and technical dimensions of the medium, the symposium offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the leading voices shaping contemporary cast glass. Whether you are an established practitioner or newly exploring the field, this program promises to deepen technical knowledge, spark creative inquiry, and foster meaningful dialogue within a vibrant community of makers.
Scheduled immediately prior to the Glass Art Society (GAS) Conference, participants are encouraged to extend their stay in Corning—the heart of the glass world—for a full week of artistic and intellectual exchange.
Join us as we celebrate and explore the creative and technical possibilities of cast glass with these remarkable contributors.
Registration opens Monday, December 1, 2025 at 9 am ET. Space is limited, and we expect the symposium to sell out quickly.
