This is an in-person course at Morley College London, North Kensington.
Join us for an in-person masterclass with Helen Slater Stokes at Morley College London in Summer 2026.
Over four days, you'll explore a range of techniques for incorporating imagery into glass, from creating screen-printed stencils to producing your own decals. You will develop and apply these skills across multiple glass projects throughout the masterclass.
Course price: £850.00
What you will learn
Over four days, Helen will guide you through Spatial Imagery in Glass, exploring multiple approaches to developing imagery and translating it into kiln-formed glass. This masterclass is designed to expand both technical skills and creative thinking, offering participants a rich toolkit for incorporating imagery into their own practice.
You will explore a wide range of techniques, including glass sgraffito frit drawing, paper-cut stencil enamel printing, photo silkscreen enamel printing, and personalised decal transfers.
Helen will also provide in-depth instruction on screen-printing equipment and processes, including choosing appropriate silkscreens for different image types, correct squeegee handling, and working with liquid underglaze enamels.
Prior to the masterclass, participants will have the opportunity to prepare imagery for digital decals, which will then be incorporated into kiln-formed glass blocks during the course. Additional areas of focus include efficient kiln packing for tiles and blocks, embedding sgraffito frit drawings into larger works, and polishing finished pieces using minimal equipment.
This intensive masterclass offers a unique opportunity to develop technically advanced glasswork within a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
A member of the Glass School team will be on hand for the duration of the masterclass as well as teaching assistant and Senior Lecturer at Morley College, Maria Zulueta.
