The role
Adult Learning Lewisham requires a tutor with a subject specialism in glasswork techniques with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching adults including industry experience.

What we’re looking for
The candidate must have experience with and be confident in at least 4 of the glasswork techniques listed below:

stained glass restoration, contemporary design and make skills for commission, lead and copper foiling techniques, to enable the building of structures, 3-dimensional items - lampshades, chandeliers, terrariums, sculptures
verre eglomise
cold work techniques - etching, engraving, grinding, polishing, sandblasting
Glass painting techniques including screen printing and silver stained
open faced moulding
warm glass techniques - fusing, kiln glass, kiln cast glass, glass bending, bent glass, slumping, Pate de verre
using a variety of kilns
understanding of history, culture, trends and innovations
COSHH including Health & Safety in a workshop environment.
working as a team and enabling the learner's work to be displayed at various venues.
sharing knowledge and teaching skills with peers

Classes take place on Monday morning, Tuesday and Thursday evenings during term time with some additional hours available during non-term dates, on occasion to cover other courses.

We are looking for a reliable, conscientious and dedicated tutor who preferably has experience working in an adult environment and has a qualification to at least level 4 as well as having or is willing to work towards achieving a recognised teaching qualification (e.g.Cert Ed/PGCE).
The successful applicant must be prepared to work at any of our centres if required and carry out all administrative tasks associated with the post including attendance at tutor meetings and time for CPD.

Salary details : £33.64 per hour
