‘Full Circle’ – launched 7th April, 2025

Circles have no beginning and no end. They are not just geometrical symbols but are also what makes life possible. The sun and the moon are both circles and so is the cycle of life. Circles are also an intricate part of nature; time and the seasons occur in repetitive cycles.
Whoever thought that a circle was, well, just a circle?

CGS members grabbed the opportunity to show us what this theme meant to them and the resulting show is superb. We are so proud to launch this international digital glass exhibition.

64 Contemporary Glass Society glass artists truly do show us their ‘Full Circle’ – whether as a visual form or as a metaphysical concept.

Title:Journey

Description: In ancient cultures, the circle or wheel represents a symbol of a world where only the center is immovable, everything else rotates and renews itself, this is where space and time are born. The wheel, which carries the perfection of the circle, refers to the world of creation, formation, represents a journey that opens up new possibilities on our path, and ultimately leads us back to the origin.

Never Done comprises a collection of embroidery hoops, each suspended from a clear thread. Title:Portland Variations

Description: Inspired by the Portland Vase Disc, this piece was created using a contemporary technique I developed. Moving beyond traditional cameo methods, I used digital modeling, 3D-printed molds, and multi-stage kiln firing to achieve intricate depth and contrast. This process redefines how imagery is formed in glass, pushing the boundaries of kiln-formed art.

Title:The Music of the Spheres

Description: Here is Jupiter, ruler of the Universe, who sings Basso as he circles the sun. I made the outer 5 planets, each with Holst’s musical score on the reverse. But “The Music of the Spheres” has a different, more ancient and mathematical meaning. Read about it in Arthur Koestler’s “The Sleepwalkers”. It’s an entertaining history of extraordinary astronomers and humanity’s vision of the universe
