Online Exhibition

Our honorary member Peter Layton has help put together and suggest images for a Memorial Exhibition for Glass Artist Karen Lawrence who sadly passed away in 2013.

In February 2016, the Gallery at London Glassblowing are hosting a major retrospective of her extraordinary body of work. This is in fact the first comprehensive showing of her oeuvre. Spanning her whole career, including her beginnings as a metalworking student at Buckingham College of Design; her period working with me at London Glassblowing during the 90’s; and finally the exquisite pieces she produced in her own studio from 1998 to 2012.

Visually delicate, these pieces are structurally strong, in some cases enhanced by electro-formed metalwork. Her husband, the irrepressible rock musician, John Otway, has in his possession over 100 of these extraordinary pieces. Many of them are of museum quality and as someone who knows the standard of work produced globally.
