Member’s Spotlight

My work explores the inherent properties of glass, focusing on how I can take the fluidity and freeze it in time. The beauty that is created is an exploration of memories that flow through my existence. Often focused on trauma and the pain associated, these memories result in beauty and strength. Inspired by the links between the grotesque and the sublime, I create sculptures that explore my interchanging feelings of neglect, obsession, conflict and beauty, emotions that consume but are hard to fully describe. Glass flows between sculptural elements. These flows allow me to create an environment where I sculpt the piece with a laid out plan but then allow the glass to perform the conclusion. Relinquishing a degree of control means that I always learn something from the process and the result can never be recreated.
