Nataliia Bodrova

My name is Nataliia. I am an illustrator, graphic designer, and beginner in the stained glass medium. Since 2015 I have lived in Reykjavik, Iceland. I studied fine art in 1996 and received a BA in graphic design in 2004. Since my graduation, I have worked in that field for various companies and as an independent artist, and I have more than 15 years of experience in the graphic design field.

I specialise in vector illustrations, recreating original work and artefacts by vector tracing, and watercolour painting, Contemporary Glass Society and The Institute of Conservation (ICON). Since 2023, I began studying the craft of stained glass and joined the British Society of Master Glass Painters. Since then, I have taken any opportunity to study and work with the medium, visit museums with stained glass exhibitions, read books recommended to me, such as by Patrick Reyntiens, and learn from masters of the craft. I attended Jonathan Cooke’s masterclasses at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, got tutored by Flora Jamieson in her Dorset studio, was taught by Ellen van Dijk in the Glasatelier Ellen studio, and attended a two-day glass painting workshop that was held at the Stained Glass Museum in Ely Cathedral and taught by Derek Hunt.
My passion lies in the stained glass craft, where I continue to collect knowledge and advance my skills to become a conservator and stained glass master in my own style. For now, my goal is to learn the traditional style of stained glass, grow my skills, thus in the future I could help to save the heritage of stained glass. Hopefully, piecing together enough of this knowledge that needs to be preserved and passed on to others will keep this tradition alive.
