“That’s bizarre!” “How surreal!” when we make these statements do we really know what they
mean?
To be bizarre can also be described as odd, strange, unusual, grotesque, or weird.
In contrast Surreal, in relation to an artwork could mean that the elements in it are combined in a
way that you would not normally expect like having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream.
This immediately conjures up images by Salvador Dali and the Surrealists.

Title:Movement of Water

Description: Inspired by the River Wye, the 'Movement of Water’ collection expresses the reflective light, rippling colour and rhythmic movement of nature. Each surface of these functional, holdable glass bowls is hand-painted and layered before being formed through kiln firing for an organic aesthetic.

Title:Lawn Chairs

Description: The glass has been kiln-formed into this woven formation through a multi-firing process of fuzing and slumping. The woven glass is then placed on the actual refurbished aluminum frame of a lawn chair. These sculptures are instantly recognizable and almost dismissed as normal fabric lawn chairs.

Description: Die zweiteilige gläserne Wandskulptur „Bazillen“ (2022) eröffnet einen spannenden Dialog zwischen Sichtbarem und Unsichtbarem. Kreisförmige, goldene Strukturen vor einem tiefroten Hintergrund erinnern an lebendige Mikroorganismen und laden dazu ein, über die Bedeutung dieser winzigen Akteure in unserem Alltag nachzudenken.
