Suzy Lane

My practice reflects the interplay between the natural world, storytelling and personal experience. I like to project this through an uncomplicated lens, often more figurative than abstract. I work with lampworked, fused and cast glass and with ceramics to create pieces with which I hope to evoke a sense of connection and enchantment. The materials naturally reflect light and shadow, and I like to experiment with guiding those aspects through the use of variations in colour and texture. I sometimes include interactive elements in my work such as projections and the inclusion of music or sounds. I am currently exploring traditions and rituals rooted in folklore which celebrate elements such as the changing of the seasons.
