Erika Lagerbielke

Erika Lagerbielke is based in Sweden as a well-established and internationally recognised artist and designer. She is professor at Linnaeus University. She cooperates with the company Orrefors Kosta Boda as well as works independently on public commissions. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Sweden and internationally and has participated in many group exhibitions. Already in 1984 she designed the stemware Intermezzo with the blue drop for Orrefors. Lagerbielke works with design commissions, such as the wedding gift for the Swedish Crown Princess couple in 2010 from the Swedish Parliament and Government, the chain of office for the Vice-Chancellor of Linnaeus University and the university’s maze. She is well known for her liturgical art, such as the stained glass window Hope and the relief The Source for the altar in the crypt in Lund Cathedral. Also, a bishop's crozier for the Diocese of Växjö and a baptismal bowl for the font in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.

In 2025 she partnered with artist Charlotte Birnbaum for the exhibition “The Theatre of the Dining Table – Glass for All Senses” at Gallery Glass, Stockholm, Sweden. Lagerbielke cooperated with Kosta Boda and the crafters at Kosta glassworks in creating blown and cut, as well as casted objects. Birnbaum’s work was made in assemblage technique. The design statement read: Inspired by the cultural history of the set table and the choreography of the meal itself, our project explores their potential today. The exhibition demonstrates encounters between nature and culture. Some of the objects are inspired by the environment and display the function of natural phenomena in the formation of cultural values. We worked with the key words toasting, tasting, decorating, conversing and collecting, and a mutual color scheme.
