Member’s Spotlight

In my work, I investigate everyday objects and forms that have been relegated to the margins in order to reveal their invisible networks of meaning, power and affection. Coming from a rural background and a craft practice in glass, I develop works in which mineral matter interacts with living things — plants, insects, artefacts or residues — in a tension that is both poetic and comical. Through stories of flight, escape and discreet resistance, diverted with humour and tenderness, I question relationships of domination and disrupt the hierarchies between human, non-human and technological. Through sculpture and installation, I design fragile devices that vibrate, flash or breathe as if attempting their own emancipation, placing my work within a magical realism where matter becomes a metaphor for an unstable world riddled with contradictions.
