Member’s Spotlight

Catherine is a contemporary kilnformed glass designer-maker based in Altrincham, south of Manchester. Her work is distinctively colourful and inspired by strong linear and geometric patterns. Contrast is a recurring theme through Catherine’s glass work, achieved through a palette of bold and vibrant colours and the careful combination of opalescent and transparent glass allowing for exciting light effects and depth throughout the object. Some of her pieces have a textured area contrasting with the smooth surface of the glass and giving a tactile dimension to her work. Most of Catherine’s pieces are intended for use, but others such as her bevelled drop out vessels, are finely crafted and decorative art objects.
