Member’s Spotlight

Ivan is a glass artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He learned the art of flameworking in 2011 under the tutelage of the late Haji Soenaryo, founder of CV. Glass Blower, a laboratory glass equipment company. With this foundational knowledge, Ivan began to experiment, using waste glass as his primary medium. His work is influenced by diverse sources, from online resources to the techniques of glass bead artisans in East Java. Dedicated to sharing his craft, Ivan's studio is open to the public, inviting anyone interested in exploring or experimenting with waste glass. He aims to elevate glass as a recognized art form in Indonesia. His commitment to this goal is further demonstrated by his organization of the first-ever Indonesian Glass Art Festival in 2022, which coincided with the International Year of Glass. Ivan has also actively participated in numerous exhibitions, presentations, and workshops in Indonesia and internationally, including in Singapore, Russia, Türkiye, Germany, and the United States.
