Member’s Spotlight

I’m Louise Durham, a glass artist based in Shoreham-by-Sea. I’m best known for sculptures that bring together traditional leaded-glass techniques and fused glass, mounted in reclaimed sea-defence timber. Rooted in the coastal landscape, each piece explores the meeting of material, light and place.Bespoke lighting is also central to my practice. I explore how the frequency of light and the vibration of colour interact, shaping atmosphere and inviting an emotional response.Photographing my sculptures on the beach at sunrise or sunset is an essential part of my process. The shifting light transforms each work and turns the photographs into artworks in their own right. Shoreham’s distinctive light continually informs my vision. Through sculpture and lighting, I celebrate light’s ability to evoke wonder, connection, tranquillity and joy.
