Artificial Sublimity is a structured aesthetic strategy that sustains a state of unresolved cognition between the viewer and the work. The work does not aim at comprehension; it maintains a threshold where curiosity persists, understanding remains partial, and attention cannot withdraw. Information is not withheld but regulated, distributed in a way that permits approach without allowing completion. Aesthetic value emerges from this condition. It does not reside in meaning, but in the impossibility of exhausting it. Within this structure, admiration arises from what cannot be fully grasped, caution signals the presence of unstable meaning, and wonder is produced through controlled deviations from expectation. Each movement toward understanding destabilizes the whole, preventing closure. Failure occurs at two limits: total comprehension or total dismissal. The objective is neither clarity nor satisfaction, but the preservation of an ongoing cognitive pursuit; one that cannot be completed, and cannot be abandoned.
