Fiona Caskie

My Imaginary Heart is a stained glass art studio in Naarm/Melbourne led by artist, Fiona Caskie. The medium of glass allows My Imaginary Heart to draw parallels between the strength and vulnerability of the material and the nature of human experience, emphasising the duality inherent and the contradictory nature of existence in recurring themes of love and loss.  Incorporating imagery based on the artist’s long-term folklore project and exploration of often overwhelming sensory experiences, My Imaginary Heart expresses what cannot be put into words by drawing heavily upon folklore and fairytale stories and imagery. My Imaginary Heart re-imagines their engagement with and disassociation from their environment through simulacra, character-building, and worlds-within-worlds-within- worlds.

A graduate of the Certificate III in Glass and Glazing (Designed Glazing) and a current student of the Diploma of Visual Arts (Glasswork) at Melbourne Polytechnic, My Imaginary Heart also teaches workshops in leadlight and copper foil technique. Their glass art installation “Sunflowers; repeating” is currently on view as part of the 2025 Grace: Women in Glass exhibition at the Australian Centre for Glass Design until September 27.
