Jan O'Highway

Following a thorough training in painting at Guildford School of Art in the late 1950s I've spent a lifetime exploring the fields of ceramic, mosaic, sculpture, digital photography and warm glass. I’ve been fortunate to receive many commissions for public and private spaces, plus a wide range of community and education projects, with an emphasis on environmental and social issues. I love the magical quality of glass; appearing to be as soft and fluid as a liquid, but in reality hard, solid and cool to the touch…. enhancing the passage of light with incredible colours ….that strange substance rare in nature, a translucent solid.
