I make kiln formed glass vessels, playing with gravity in the kiln. Manipulating mass, heat, colour and time I aim to create complex, elusive work that has intense colour and pattern which reacts to the light it is placed in. I finish my pieces using many cold working processes to shape and mark the glass including sandblasting, hand lapping, diamond point and wheel cameo engraving.

I am currently producing work inspired by two residencies at Lyth Arts Centre in Caithness. Here I investigated the Flow Country which is considered to be the largest area of blanket bog in the world.

Most of the work I carry out is new bespoke stained glass panels for homes and businesses. I also repair and restore old and damaged stained glass and leaded lights.

The Creative Glass School is a space where glass artists and students come together to work, study and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. The classes are all designed to emphasise technical and creative skills, experimentation and teamwork, as well as the development of an original and individual style.

Although initially inspired by microscopic images of plankton, Amanda’s work is evolutionary, with each piece informing the next. She enhances her hand blown forms using cold working processes to create surface patterns and textures, which hold light and magnify reflections.

For international exhibitions, I play with curiosity. This year I combined glass and soft materials in pieces for OPAM, Japan and Jaipur, India.

My work in cast glass has been inspired by concepts of time. I was commissioned by Leeds University Chaplaincy to make a contemporary blue glass font and this has been in use since 2004. Now semi retired and with limited working facilities I continue making smaller works and run introductory cast glass courses for secondary school students.

Amy is a specialist in glass casting, currently working at Plymouth College of Art (0.4) as Workshop Coordinator for the Glass department.
Alongside designing and creating jewellery and sculpture with a coastal connection, Amy is a commissioned artist.

Ana works across a range of media including sculpture, installation, photography and drawing. She has a fascination with the emotional, symbolic and metaphorical dimensions of materials and objects and the histories and narratives which surround them. The back-story narrative gives her work a storied content which engages the viewer and compels them to look again. Using a process of inclusion and incorporation to embed objects in crystal glass, her poetic sculptures move towards a new possibility for glass.
