New Artists and reviews
Working with concepts of broken, stretched, shattered, reflecting, healing and becoming one again.
I have created delicate sculptures of a Mother’s Torso.
Through developing these works I have found beauty in dark places.
The Mother Torso is the largest to date. Measuring L: 50cm x W: 30 cm – Height / Depth varies between 30cm – 8cm (approx.)
My past work has come from fragility and strength within our day-to-day lives.
How one can appear fragile, yet be internally strong and vice versa some people can appear strong but be broken and fragile inside.
Glass lends its self beautifully to the fragility of life and the obstacles we face.
By pushing processes and methods I search for ways to express these fragilities and uniquenesses.
We are all different, we should embrace and enjoy this fact.
Mother Torso was commended in the 2016 Glass Prize with Contemporary Glass Society.
I have exhibited in London at One Year On in 2017
My work has featured in magazines such as Asthetica, and High-End Magazine. As well as featuring in online exhibitions.
NOTE:
My process is not Pâte de Verre.
I have developed my own way of working to create my forms.
All my work is formed on moulds made by myself also.
My smaller works are made with a dual purpose, for use as food serving pieces or as artistic pieces to display on the wall or around the house. My larger projects are display and/or wall hanging pictures. I like to have a sense of reality in my work
My work is about the combination of tradition and modernity,it represents my country s ancient culture.I use traditional patterns from Iran s architecture, then I change them and make them modern.
In my work,I deconstruct the traditional patterns, the ancient culture and the old beliefs.
Glass and metal, water and Spirit. Water is the inspiration for the Art 2014 Collection, for its qualities of purity, vastness, movement and healing. Abstract compositions evolve through experiments within the kiln which enhance my knowledge of materials and techniques and my desire to be an inventor in the contemporary crafts world.
My recent work uses foiled glass, wire and mirror to create 3d pieces. I incorporate figures in relation to flights of birds and often the environment which surrounds them. The birds are usually taking flight and the people often in quiet reflection, it is that balance between the tensions of life and the possibilities of movement and escape.
Recently I have been writing and illustrating picture books, these often inspire new glass works.
