I am a glass artist and maker who was once a doctor. In childhood I fell in love with glass because of it's colours and luminance! But at school I was 'good' at science not art. Then in 1991 during a break from Medicine I first got the opportunity to learn how to make stained glass and I kept going. Glass went from an interest to a passion and over the years I have honed my skills while learning many techniques. Along the way I gained a City & Guilds then a Diploma in Glass and Design from City of Bath College. The tutors who helped me shape my passion while supporting me (Laure Petiot; Meryl Stannard; and Helga Watkins Baker) have been truly inspirational. I love working with glass in ways that try to push it to extremes. My current work features firing glass under pressure and using gravity to move it. I am also beginning to explore a number of other avenues including Pate de Verre and the Japanese art of Kintsukuroi applied to glass. As another passion of mine is saving the planet I see the glass I use as a precious resource not to be wasted. I try whenever I can to incorporate things left from one project into another.
