The Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) is delighted to be taking part in a brand new collaboration with General Office Gallery in Stourbridge.  This exhibition will be for new Graduates working in glass and is entitled “Glass Beginnings: Graduates of 2024”. The exhibition runs from Saturday, 17th August to Sunday, 1st September, 2024 and is a partner venue of the International Festival of Glass 2024.

Established in 2018, General Office is an independent gallery, based in Stourbridge. It houses artists’ studios and a hireable gallery and print room. The gallery delivers a programme of contemporary exhibitions of fine art, photography, glass and ceramics, and holds regular classes, workshops and a variety of talks and screenings. The aim of the gallery is to provide space for local and national artists and creatives to exhibit, collaborate and engage the public with contemporary art practices within the Dudley Borough. The Contemporary Glass Society is the premier supporter and promoter of contemporary glass art and glass artists within the UK.  Membership is open to glass artists at all stages of their careers, collectors and members of the general public interested in contemporary glass. www.cgs.org.uk

This joint project is creating a new exhibition entitled “Glass Beginnings: Graduates of 2024”. It will feature between 10 and15 graduates selected from all those graduating from a British or Irish accredited course or graduating from a British or Irish accredited MA or PhD course in 2024. All graduates will be able to apply with work which comprises of at least 50% glass and will also have the chance to win a range of prizes. It is anticipated that one or two past winners of the Glass Sellers and CGS New Graduate Prize will also be invited to exhibit alongside the successful graduates.

The exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for emerging glass artists to show their work before an international audience.

An opening Preview Evening from 7- 9pm on Saturday 17th August

A “Meet the Makers” afternoon (Saturday 24th from 2- 4pm)

A Print Workshop (1 day) for up to 8 people
