My most recent project is an interactive glass installation that is currently touring. I continue to push the boundries of my sculpture by building larger and more intricate pieces, enjoying the quiet contemplation that goes with each piece.
My work is created by layering glass frit in a process very similar to 3d printing, except I am the printer and I fire these layers as a whole in the kiln .

Although I now live in Warwickshire my work is still strongly influenced by my childhood in Cornwall pottering about on fishing boats, playing on the beach and walking on the moors.

I have small children and enjoy seeing the world through their eyes where no detail is missed and the seemingly mundane can be fascinating and the beginning of a story. I keep my houses and cottages intentionally simple in order to free the imagination and allow the pieces to evoke the viewers own memories and experiences.

As well as a passion for glass I have always been fascinated by the variety of textures, shapes and colours in natural stones as well as their tactile nature. Using them in my work makes each piece individual and challenges me to work with their unique characteristics. They are a never ending source of inspiration.

I am largely self taught which frees me to experiment with new techniques. Each piece can go through up to 10 different processes from traditional copper foil work and soldering or fusing, to freehand engraving and adding fabrics and other materials before it is finished.

Oodles of Doodles (20/08/2015 – 30/08/2015) This exhibition brings together an eclectic mix of glass forms and techniques inspired by the ongoing doodle project of the British Glass Foundation. The artworks exhibited are inspired by the doodles produced by several local and international celebrities and three competition winners from local schools who were ‘honorary celebrities’ for a day. All of the exhibits will be auctioned to raise funds for the British Glass Foundation who are working on securing a new home for the museum’s glass collections. http://www.dudley.gov.uk/see-and-do/museums/glass-museum/whats-on-at-broadfield-house/doodle-challenge-bhgm/

In 2019 I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and I am now exploring a modern take on the centuries old creative art of verre eglomise.
This for me, it involves the bonding of patterned fabric onto the back of plate glass, combined with engraved burnished gold leaf and some kiln fired paint work.
Humanity and its many variations of expression has always been my mind’s subject.
At 83 my creative journey is as exciting as ever.
