My current project, Material Traces, is a creative investigation of how, as humans, we have adapted and transformed our environment using its natural resources for cultural expression, industry and development. It is inspired by the discovery of a Bronze Age burial urn on Skokholm Island in 2021. Through the lens of silica, both as glass and as glaze on ceramic, I will creatively investigate how, as humans, we have adapted and transformed our environment using its natural resources for cultural expression, industry and development. The project examines the impact of early human intervention on the landscape from the earliest detectable human traces and its continued impact today.

Linda’s ‘Marbellous’ light shade was shown at the prestigious ‘New Glass – Ancient Skill, Contemporary Artform’ exhibition at Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This piece was made specifically to complement the Arts and Crafts surroundings of Blackwell. It uses the copper foil technique and contains over 700 individual pieces, including 1kg of marbles.
I specialise in kiln formed splashbacks for kitchens and bathrooms. Recent panels can be found on my website glassification.co.uk. I now offer courses in splashbacks both face to face in my workshop, and also online for those who can’t get down to Somerset.
Organic designs are generally the inspiration for my work, in particular landscapes and waterscapes, and foliage. I am always experimenting in order to get new effects. A visit to the Jurassic Coast a year or so back encouraged me to explore the strata of the earth and the ground beneath our feet, in coming up with new patterns and colour combination in working in glass.
