I have been exploring ways of introducing tapestry weaving in my glass pieces and several of my sculptures are partly woven. This is an area which I plan to develop further.
Covid has had a major impact in my life both personally and professionally. The ‘mask’ is something I live with every day and I felt compelled to portray as a symbol of our lives over the last few years.

The majority of my pieces are inspired by nature and the elements. My designs feature bold colors and whimsical patterns. Intricate soldering and wire work provide stability while enabling the maximum amount of light to shine through the facets. I reside in the USA.

Jiayun Ding

In my most recent project, I wanted to draw attention to the dangers of over nitrification through agricultural runoff that is causing harmful algal blooms (HAB) in our oceans. The work referred to the organisms bioluminescence by utilizing the fluorescence of uranium glass under 500nm Ultraviolet illumination and drew attention to a little known but emergent ecological emergency.
